The business is led by Luke Haworth ACABE, an Associate Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE). Associate membership provides professional reassurance through a recognised framework of competence, professional conduct and continuing professional development. Luke's background spans hands-on construction, site supervision and project coordination through to measured surveying, defect investigation, technical reporting and residential design.
That combination matters because buildings are rarely understood properly by looking at drawings alone. Materials, workmanship, sequencing, alterations and the way individual elements interact all influence how a building performs in practice.

From construction into surveying and technical design
Williams Survey & Design has not been built around a purely academic route into buildings. The technical work is supported by experience of how buildings are actually put together, altered, repaired and finished.
- Trade training & hands-on construction Formal carpentry and joinery apprenticeship followed by extensive work across houses, apartments, commercial interiors, refurbishment and bespoke projects.
- Supervision & project coordination Progression into organising work, coordinating trades, dealing with practical site constraints and understanding how design decisions affect construction.
- Technical education & CAD HNC in Construction & the Built Environment achieved with distinction, together with CAD, architectural drafting and construction-design training.
- Surveying, defects & technical design Measured surveys, building condition work, defect investigation, technical reporting, planning drawings and Building Regulations information.

Williams Survey & Design is based in Darwen and works throughout Lancashire and the wider North West, including Blackburn, the Ribble Valley, Preston, Bolton, Bury and surrounding areas. Selected projects are also undertaken towards Lancaster, South Cumbria and other locations where the scope justifies the travel.
For most instructions, the person discussing the enquiry with you is also the person visiting the property, preparing the drawings or report and explaining the findings.
