Why Choose Williams Survey & Design?
Professional advice is built on experience.
Williams Survey & Design is led by Luke Haworth (ACABE), an Associate Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers with more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry.
Luke’s practical background provides an understanding of how buildings are actually assembled, altered and repaired. This makes it possible to identify potential difficulties early, consider how proposed solutions will work in practice and provide recommendations that are technically sound, proportionate and buildable.
Every project is approached with the same care and attention to detail, whether preparing drawings for a domestic extension or investigating movement affecting a listed building.
We believe professional advice should be:
Thorough
Important details should never be overlooked or assumptions left untested.
Practical
Recommendations must be capable of being implemented successfully on site.
Clear
Clients should understand the advice they receive and the reasons behind it.
Proportionate
Solutions should reflect the nature, significance and circumstances of the issue.
Independent
Advice should be based on professional judgement and the client’s best interests.

Our practical construction experience means we consider more than what appears on a drawing.
It helps us provide:
Designs that can be constructed effectively
Practical solutions rather than theory alone
Early identification of potential problems
Clear explanations without unnecessary jargon
Advice that considers cost, disruption and buildability
Our objective is not simply to complete an instruction. It is to help each client reach the right decision for their building and circumstances.
How We Work
1. Initial Conversation
We take the time to understand the property, the issue and what you need to achieve.
2. Survey and Assessment

3. Clear Advice and Technical Information
We provide the appropriate drawings, survey findings, recommendations or technical advice in a clear and understandable format.
4. Support and Next Steps
We explain the findings, answer questions and provide further support where this forms part of the agreed service.
Meet Luke
I began my career in carpentry and joinery, developing the practical understanding of construction that continues to underpin my work today.
I have since gained experience across a wide range of residential and commercial projects, including bespoke homes, apartment developments, restaurants, bars and cinemas. My background also includes working within site teams and undertaking small-scale project-management roles, giving me a clear understanding of how projects are coordinated and delivered in practice.
Alongside my construction experience, I specialise in building surveying, defect investigation, measured surveys and technical design. My work includes assessing construction quality, identifying the likely causes of defects and advising on practical, proportionate solutions.
I hold qualifications in Construction and the Built Environment, together with training in building design and CAD, and I am an Associate Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
This combination of practical and technical experience allows me to provide clear, reliable advice without unnecessary jargon or making clients feel intimidated.
